About GSC

GSC was founded by a former World Bank education and technology specialist with the aim of increasing the number of Japanese people who can thrive in a global environment. Students use project-based learning to learn practical solutions to the real Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) handled by international organizations and local SDG issues. Using online collaborative international learning (COIL), GSC aims to inspire global peers and schools across Japan , while increasing the number of glocal talent (people who use their global perspectives and experiences to contribute to the revitalization and development of local communities and economies) . GSC also supports the development of future leaders who can contribute to global issues through revitalizing Japanese local communities and communicating with various regions of Japan and international exchange .

GSC Representative Saori Imaizumi

Looking back

Our services are divided into two categories: for schools and for individuals.

School Services

Through online exchanges with teachers from Japan and abroad, we offer programs that can be used in elementary, junior high, high school, and university English classes, comprehensive learning, inquiry-based learning, home economics, ICT education, career education, etc. Specifically, we offer lesson plans for project-based learning that solves SDG problems (introductions to local areas, marine plastics, poverty around us, carbon dioxide reduction, projects related to one's career, etc.), practical training in problem-solving using design thinking, and opportunities to learn how to use generative AI.

Personal Services

We also offer individual programs for those who want to create opportunities for their children from elementary school to high school to speak English, those who want their children to learn diverse values while in Japan, those who want their children to discover the joy of hands-on learning through project-based learning, those who want their children to learn how to use generative AI safely and ethically, those who want their children to develop problem-solving and presentation skills, those who want their children to connect with children outside of their school or local community and create a new place for themselves, etc. In addition to parents, these programs are also ideal for university students interested in international exchange, global careers, SDGs, and design thinking.

GSC's goals

concept

Change yourself, your community, and the world with classroom inspiration.
We hope that the inspiration that emerges in the classroom through interactions with students and teachers from overseas and through inquiry-based learning will eventually turn into innovation that will change ourselves, our communities, and the world. Even if it starts with a small inspiration, by collaborating with the world and using technology, we hope to provide opportunities that will eventually lead to innovation in society.

vision

Together with our colleagues from around the world, we can change ourselves, our communities, and the world.

One of GSC's missions is to cultivate "glocal talent who can work collaboratively with the world." In other words, as stated in its Vision, "we start by changing the world around us, that is, our local communities." However, in order to change the world around us, we (students and faculty) must first change ourselves. This may come from interacting with people from around the world. Or perhaps learning about technology will bring about a change in our own way of thinking. First, we want students to broaden their own horizons and use this learning as an opportunity to become a different person than they were before they began. Then, through their own actions, we want them to create an environment in which they can involve those around them and change together.

We put this meaning into Vision.

mission

  • Connecting teachers and students from around the world online, providing an opportunity for anyone to easily engage in international exchange

  • Through project-based learning using the SDGs, we aim to develop glocal human resources who can contribute to local communities together with peers from around the world.

  • Cultivate talent who can learn generative AI, express their own ideas and solutions in various forms, and share them with the world

GSC has established the above three missions. In recent years, in Japan, interactive classes (such as inquiry-based learning) such as active learning and project-based learning have been increasing in addition to one-way classes (traditional). However, the burden on teachers, including the need to create detailed lesson plans and the lack of time teachers need to prepare for lessons, has become a problem that cannot be ignored.

In addition, in line with the government's policy of cultivating global human resources, an increasing number of schools are looking to increase opportunities for students to connect with overseas institutions. However, not everyone can afford to go on overseas training due to financial constraints, and some schools are struggling to connect with overseas institutions. In recent years, many overseas talents have begun working in Japan, so opportunities to work with people from other countries within Japan will increase in the future. Furthermore, with the rapid development of generative AI, there are more opportunities to express one's concepts in various forms.

Therefore, GSC's mission is to develop individuals who can bring about change in the local community and the world by providing opportunities to create detailed lesson plans, interact with people (students and teachers) from all over the world, and collaborate on projects to solve SDG problems, while also learning about technology (such as generative AI), which is a recent trend, and creatively expressing solutions and their own ideas. In addition to focusing only on students, we also aim to build a community by enhancing teacher training and support.

Reserved Section from Maine 2024/12/12

About GSC

GSC aims to increase the number of glocal talent (people who use their global perspectives and experiences to contribute to the revitalization and development of local communities and economies) while exciting students from around the world and schools all over Japan . We also aim to support the development of future talent who can contribute to solving global issues through the revitalization of local communities in Japan and through communication from various regions of Japan and exchanges with overseas countries.
